Reorganisation, Promotions and Redeployment at APCON

The Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON) has announced the promotion and redeployment of a number of its staff in an exercise that aims at positioning the Council for effectiveness in its mandate of regulating the advertising industry.  In the promotion exercise, Bimbola Ipaye was promoted to Director, Human Resource Management.

Five other staff were promoted to Assistant Directors.  These include Abiodun Aghedo who is now in charge of General Administration and Personnel; Ijedi Iyoha, now in charge of Regulation, Monitoring & Enforcement and Martha Onyebuchi, who is now in charge of Registration, Career Matters And Corporate Licensing.

Released as part of the promotions package are some structural changes designed to enhance efficiency and achieve result.  These include the creation of the position of Special Assistant to the Registrar/Chief Executive and the Directorate of Planning, Research Corporate Affairs & Strategy.  Joe-Eugene Onuorah who was hitherto Chief Planning, Registration and Career Matters Officer has been promoted to Assistant Director Operations to assist the Chief Executive.  Mr. Ralph Anyacho was elevated to the rank of Assistant Directorand moved from the Owerri Zonal Office to the headquarters to drive Planning, Research, Corporate Affairs and Strategy functions.

Thirty five other staff of the Council benefited from the promotion exercise which has elevated them to various higher ranks and responsibilities.

According to a statement signed by Ralph Anyacho, Head, Planning, Research, Corporate Affairs & Strategy, the promotions have been approved by the Hon. Minister of defence, Labaran Maku whose ministry supervises the regulatory agency.

The statement adds that the headships of the Council’s Zonal offices were also reshuffled for efficiency.  Accordingly, Ahmed Yalwa moved from Kano to occupy the headship of Abuja office vacated by Martha Onyebuchi; Salisu Bashir stepped into Kano office from Kaduna to replace Yalwa as head while Bitrus Yakubu stepped up the ladder to head Kaduna zone.  Down South, Mr. Ikechukwu Ogbu stepped up to the position of acting head of the Owerri Zone following the redeployment of Mr. Ralph Anyacho; the Port Harcourt operation is now headed by Augustine Neboh who moved from Enugu office to replace Mike Orji whi has been redeployed to the head office.  In Enugu, Mr. Charles Obasi is on the head having been transferred from the head office in Lagos.
